The confirmation by a career state department official that indeed a quid pro quo was operative in the Ukraine scandal has certainly ensured most other news will be blotted out for days if not weeks. Similarly, the fight to get the release of The Donald's tax returns will soak up the efforts of many reporters who would ordinarily be covering news of climate change and a hundred other pressing problems facing humanity.
